Father

written this for my Dad on father's day

today i am going down the memory lane
for words, from saying which i always refrain.

i remember how i felt like a king
when you placed in my finger your golden ring.

how you held me high off the ground
yet your arms always making me feel safe and sound.

i remember mom tying with bands my long curls
for i enjoyed being your 'cute little girl'.

those dark cold nights
when you cajoled me to kick away all my fright.

shielding me from all the pain
always answering my queries , howsoever lame.

time passed by and something did change
for even you seemed to be out of my visceral range.

at times i blamed you for stopping me from having fun
yet you kept on loving me , your reluctant son.

you only want that i grow up right
and i assure you dad that I'll try my best to wield my inner light.

i am sorry for the anger in the air
though i don't show , my love is always there.

today am not there to hug you and it makes me feel sad
and so with all my heart i say "happy father's day my dear DAD!"

What a beautiful poem to a father you clearly love, who has bought you up to be a good strong man, and pride shows in your writing, all parents try their best, we are all parents for the first time and don't always get it right........well written with love and respect.
