An ode to my heart ~

Deceived and tricked
to embrace the sweet pain
be-fooled with deserted promises
through all these years, and yet again.

Accustomed to being kicked around
mistreated with indifference profound
all it has known of love is the woe it brings
when in the inert zone, a false hope again rings.

I no longer have the courage
neither do i have any inclination
to see it smirk pitiably when i pretend
that it's going to be any better in the end !

Sometime take more luck then courage. I tell people. Love is luck and timing. Need to find someone with the same desire and be in the same place. can happen. A powerful poem of disappointment. More losses in love then victories. I like the strong ending to the excellent poem.

Love can be a bitter pill to swallow and best taken with plenty of whiskey. I like your honesty in this piece, but am sad that the poem is defeatist -
