Charles agreed Ray’s new wife was a pretty good cook. No one could cook like their mother but she was greatly appreciated all the same. Jimmie was so full of home cooking he didn’t have room for the surprise dish of the day.

As he packed up the barbeque snoot made special for him, a single tear fell from his face.

Jimmie walked out of the brightly colored home and past the neatly cropped bushes into the mild Christmas day weather.

He looked into the branches of the large river birch tree wearing lime white socks.

A light snow fell on the covered pan of food placed on the lap of the thin man wearing the red Santa hat with white trim.

They came upon the home with the tree painted the color of snow. There were opened presents and a foil wrapped plate at its base. The woman leaned forward, and as best she could, whispered in Santa’s ear.

Without even bothering to look into the tree, the thin man raised his hands
for her to see.

Using sign language he replied;

“There’s no telling what you might see around here.”
