A Wave of Fear Grows OverheadA Poem by gsbitoFrom my book "Lost Emotions". Poetry I wrote back in the 1970's. Relationships, love, darkness. With a dark, grey sky above me and a cold wind in my face, I traveled this deserted road: an alien, distant place. Stretching out, for miles ahead a narrow pavement flows my mind tells me,"It's funny, Greg, but no one really knows... what keeps friends together, and what pulls them apart. Don't get involved with other's lies and they won't break your heart." "It's too late, Greg..." (I told my mind), "though what you say is true. They took my heart, and tore it up... and now, I'm feeling blue." "Greg, don't let it bother you..." That's all I hear them say. Just spit out words, then turn their backs. It's always been that way. Look closely please, but never touch I'm sitting on a shelf a plastic doll, I'm nothing much (won't someone come and help?) I turn my head, I see you there an image... you're not real you're just a passing fantasy. A vision I can't feel. But it's just imagination, girl twisting life around. Let's me see what other's feel in a sea of thoughts I drown. Don't pull me out, I like it here (it's getting rather deep) A wave of fear grows overhead... I close my eyes... and sleep.
