Alone on the Beach

Alone on the Beach

A Poem by gsbito
"

From my book "Lost Emotions". Poetry I wrote back in the 1970's.

"

I find myself walking, with the wind in my face

and my shoes filled with sand

Saturday morning comes... and where am I?

                  Alone... on the beach.

The waves roll in, and with the changing tides

come the changing seasons.

A gull spreads his wings, hunting his lunch.

But when darkness falls, where is he?

                  Alone... on the beach.

With the morning fog my blanket, the sound of the ocean

fills my ears. And at the edge of the world,

the sun begins its' morning climb:

and here I am...

                  Alone... on the beach.

The memory of your smile flashes through my mind.

I close my eyes, so that I can see it

just a few seconds longer, then it fades.

Again, I'm left...

                  Alone... on the beach.

The cold spray from the next wave wakes me...

I reach for you, to touch you, to show just how much

I care... only to find that I am

                  Alone... on the beach.
