Two Sets of Footprints

Two Sets of Footprints

A Poem by Ironbutt
"

We often have dreams of where and what we would have liked to be...then there is the reality of what and where we are....

"
The playful wind dances around me.. making it hard to see..
but I try to stay focused..focused on my destiny...
At times  the winds grow calmer.. revealing where I have been....
testing my conviction.. a challenge now and then.
I try to  find reason, one step at a time...
often when I search the path.. more footprints I find....
These footprints cause some concern..they often wander off..
like there is a different destiny..perhapes the one thats lost...
a dreamer fills his night with dreams..so easy to attain..
then the sharp edge of reality brings him back again...
ah to be a teacher, a musician or a host...
to settle back in a small cottage or catch sunsets on the coast...
But.. the coldness of the workin wrench or the strain on the back..
laundry or a wheelborrow... concrete blocks to stack...
each of us have a journey... destiny keeps us in check...
The playful wind resumes its dance... amused at its capability..
keeping us forever moveing forward.... toward our destiny.

Outstanding. We think in similar ways, you and I. I prefer stories over poems, and this reads like the former, to my delight. Like you, I dream of other paths I might have taken. Too late, I know, but still, we can dream.
