For Darkness Comes

For Darkness Comes

A Poem by Ironbutt
"

We..at times wrestle with our own kind of demons..sometimes we win..sometime....

"
I sit here ..in the darkness..
one of many nights..again no sleep..
I stay here for others comfort..
it is the company that I keep..
Demons of my many choices..
some silent..others with voices...
some subtle, others not quite so..
some I will leave in the darkness..
others just won't go.....
Sleep would have been a comfort..
yet sometimes my worst enemy..
for here awake...I can wait for them..
they don't have to come to me..
I used to fear this darkness..
it brought chills to every chamber in my mind...
but now I feel comfortable here..
at least these demons are mine...
I divert none of this to any excuses..
the journey I took was mine..
and should these demons take me...
I will leave a light behind.

Great poem!
When I read it I felt like this is the way
my father might have felt when he was battling his demons.
Unfortunately his demons won over.
Thanks for sharing
Keep on writing.
