Through Closed Eyes

Just going through some stuff after ruing my marriage and hurting my wife and this is one of many that have come to mind when I think about her.

 

Through closed eyes I could not see exactly what i had

I could not see all the pain that I was causing you when I did something bad.

Through closed eyes I could not see what I put you through each and every day

I was not able to notice that more and more you slowly moved away.

Through closed eyes your pain was not my reality

I never really understood why you fell in love with me.

Through closed eyes I was unable to wipe away your tears

Instead I continued to add to and feed your fears.

Through closed eyes I didnt see your soul aching

I couldnt picture your heart breaking.

Through closed eyes my soul was not open to you

you were not able to help me out of the hell i was putting myself through.

Through closed eyes you did not even have a chance to look deep inside

if i didnt see it then it didnt happen it was easier for me to hide.

Through closed eyes i hurt so much my dear

everything was a blur and nothing would come out clear.

Through closed eyes I didnt see you fought for me no matter the cost

Through opened eyes I see that with closed eyes my wife is what i lost.

Through closed eyes, we don't even see a damn thing. And more often then not, we ignore what's right in front of us. You captured your emotions well. Beautifully sad poem.
