DepartureA Poem by Milena GruborIn the shadows of my mind, where the
nightmares dwell, I etched my scars in stone, a monument to
hell. A fortress built in silence, impenetrable
and cold, Where I’ve always been alone, a tale that’s
never told. With every wound, I’ve fed the night, a
banquet of despair, A bitter bite in twilight’s grasp, while
vibrant flames declare. The world dances on the ashes, a
carnival of pain, I stand apart in chains of thought, lost
beneath the rain. No hands to hold my trembling soul, no eyes
to see my scars, Just whispers of forgotten dreams drifting
on the stars. I penned my heart in shadowed lines, inked
with sorrow’s stain, One last poem drenched in grief, swallowed
by the pain. But solitude, my only friend, will usher in
tomorrow, A departure sealed with ink and one last
tear of sorrow. Winter comes to claim me, with the reaper’s
icy breath, I’ll be gone before the spring,
surrendering to death. Bones beneath the soil, rotting in the
sun’s cruel glare, I was never more than echoes, a whisper in
the air. © 2024 Milena GruborReviews
