I LISTENED IN THE SILENCE........A Poem by Bill Grimke-DraytonAs I listened to the silence, I heard the sound of breath taken out By a sudden revelation of exquisite beauty, Fashioned from worlds beyond my knowing, And in the music of the spheres came An outpouring of love over me, washing Out the sadness that had lingered for Too many years within my body And poisoned it with venomous words To spite and shame me for my weakness, But now I listened in hope, seeing where I was - in the garden in the cool of the day, And knowing I was formed from the dust Of the earth and God had breathed His spirit into my flesh, so I could stand Firm against all that would crush me. I listened in the silence and met Him there.
