![]() Old FriendsA Poem by Joey Johnson
Decades ago
In a different time
A younger man was I.
Nothing scared me
For invincible I believed
Myself to be.
Taking upon myself
The weight of the world
Never wanting to fail.
Fighting for the rights
Of everyone
Old and young.
Coming close to Death one day
He so liked me he
Let me go.
Saying that for my good deeds
He would let me live for years
Yet to beware.
For if I was to grow tired
Of every person I would meet
He would come for my soul.
Now here I am waiting
Sitting
For he will come.
People are so ignorant
That I can not wait
When death arrives.
I will go running
For this world
Is no more.
So now I just wait
My old friend Death
He will come.
