What Should Be

What Should Be

A Poem by Joey Johnson

Immortality
Would that be a rush?
That is what I want in life
To live forever
To never fear death
Always invincible
Living forever
Laughing at death
Knowing that he will never claim me
What I say
What I do
People will remember me
That is why I shall be alive forever
Death will not claim me
I will be gone before he arrives
If you should see him

Smile knowing that you could live forever!

I would only go for this if I had the love of my life with me. The thought of immortality alone doesn't really appeal even if it was to stick two fingers up to the Grim Reaper.

As a spiritual concept though this is more intriguing.

This is a neat poem as it has opened up reaction from people so lots of kudos to you.

yeah, just made it deeper to religion though, i believe i somehow directive in the sense of paradise, yet the living as immortal in earth seems a bit great to think, well i must think this is a doctrinated vision of what life it may be to continue in the afterlife, but perhaps your not talking about afterlife but immortality speaks a greater sense to acquiring life in the image of someone, Satan... well, im getting away from the thought, though, immortality as the Gods is just figuratively incongruent to immortality as a human being... i think this is well-done... the concept may rather be very intriguing, thats all... thanks for ssharing!

Indeed living forever could have its perks, being invincible and all, but all your friends and family wouldnt have the immortality. And you would live alone without them for eternity.

that all a side, i think i would change the would to wouldn't in the second line... the story is great...

Do you mean this in the sense of a Christian belief?

Other than that possibility, I would not want to live in this body forever.

I will pass the word on to death if I see him!

This is a very good goal to have, and I think that is a goal that most humans would love to achieve.
