![]() Pressing OnA Poem by Joey Johnson
Try as I may
I will never see past my pain.
For it is exotic
Like a woman’s sweet breath
Upon my neck.
Flowing through my veins
The feeling of loss
Is torturing my body.
Your gentle touch
Revitalizes my soul.
Awakens the spirit of hope inside of me.
I know what is required of me
I must press on.
To carry my pain to others
As if a biblical plague
Spreading amongst the masses.
Why am I burdened?
Is it for who I was
Or who I need to be
If so who am I to become?
I used to want to please people
Why should I try
All I see when I see
Are monsters saying they are good people.
Horrific
Yet the truth
People are monsters!
I want hope
Love
Yes even pain
For with pain is the knowledge that life goes on.
Knowing that if I feel pain I can press on! © 2008 Joey JohnsonFeatured Review
