Know Who You Are

Know Who You Are

A Poem by Joey Johnson

Of all people one thing is true
Pain and joy run rampant
Love and hate are rulers of us all
Death and life are cruel
I have been asked do you know who your friends are
Why does it matter is my only reply
Do my friends know who they are?
Better yet
Do I?
Questions are stronger than answers
For there are always more questions than answers
If I get my life on track
What good can come of it?
For with good there is also bad
So why not ask me
Do you know who you are?
Not a pawn
For a pawn is someone clueless
Yet not a king for they should be all knowing
A seeker is what I am
For all I do is root out answers
Answers to questions that are always bursting anew!

I often wonder whether we are creatures already in hell - our previous lives having been born and died in another world beyond our comprehension of total peace and beauty. I guess I will never find out the truth of this and your questions here will always remain unanswered.
Very sorrowful but a worthy read.

wow, as if the day weren't depressing enough (it is a dark cold rainy day here)... I read this... while it def asks some questions and gets the reader to think... it is a sad story.
I think we could all use a world where there were no death, no pain... sadly we are here and we have been forced to deal with sadness...
very well written...

I like the angst and hoplessness of this poem. I can relate to the feelings expressed. I have no answer to the question, so all I can say is keep looking.
