I'm Not Sorry

I'm Not Sorry

A Poem by Skylar Elizabeth Hunter
"

I will not apologize for being me.

"
you want me to feel sorry
as if
my breath
interferes with yours
if i breathe in too deeply
you won't have enough air yourself
as if
my feet
affect your movement
if i walk too far ahead
you'll have nowhere to go
but i do not control you

A strong, confident message, though laced with some bitterness. It works well here. The best line is perhaps the last, and certainly a stinging parting shot... "but I do not control you," which also conveys "you don't control me!" Nice work!

Powerful... and a message worth sharing.

Spare and frank. After a certain point, let them walk. Nicely done.

I tend to hold onto the good memories I had with people before we fell through. I remember the reason we spoke in the first place and what kept us going. But I tend to forget why we stopped. And w.. more..
