Oh Dear

Oh Dear

A Poem by Greg Ryan
"

A poem I wrote purely to play with words and give the feeling of a passing thought developing into a rant

"
Note: To be read with increasing speed and rhythm

Oh Dear…

Pretending probably won’t work anymore…
The Pale
The Proven
The palindromic
subtleties of reality seducing reason
and the reasons reality gives;
nostalgic’s too narcotic for a person
who’s lethargic to the point
where words are rotting and there’s seven reasons not to -
maybe twenty
maybe seventy, my hyperbolic tendencies
have certain strange dependencies
on many small discrepancies
like fool and fast
fallacious fodder
fuming from my mind.
To start another sentence is both dangerous and kind.
So I’ll stop.

I would love to hear this spoken aloud. Just seems to be yearning for a slam poetry type setting, as your words and description seem to hint at. The imagery is fantastic, you paint a picture of where this work has been, and where it will be going. Overall, great word choice and flow with this poem. I really enjoyed it. Hope to see more of your stuff up here soon!

The speed and rhythm were clean and nearly flawless. Nice work.

Over all brilliant. Good imagery, metaphor's are nice and clean. Takes you in a little. Glad I read it. "who's lethargic to the point where words are rotting and there's seven reasons not to- maybe twenty maybe seventy, my hyperbolic tendencies", catchy. I really like it. One of my favorite sections.

Very deep, yet crystal clear. Reality seducing reason, wow-great line. (reverberating in my head) I really enjoy this.
