A Poem by Megan Lynn Tocci

when i think of my true self, i am barefoot.

there's water nearby, a river

a lake

an ocean or something,

and it's warm with blue sky, or

sometimes it's dusk and humid in that welcome way.

my hair is mostly unbrushed and probably tangled [too busy]

and i'm relaxing right then but know there's something

on the horizon: a dinner, a campfire,

i'm a little muddy, my hands and my face, but there's no

reason to not be and i don't feel alone

not even a bit

because someone's calling my name with excitement

and i take off sprinting towards the laughter,

to see what's so funny and join it.
