3 April 2020A Poem by Megan Lynn Tocci3 April 2020 everyone existing here, each in their separate solitude, with their canceled plans and canceled flights. faces in photos on walls bring crowded city street chatter to empty bedrooms. laughter echoes off barstools and cheap ice-cream reminds you that you are not forgotten even when you’re alone, if you lean into the hum of familiar voices, the people you hear when you’re hurting, or tired, or scared. lean into the ones reminding you to feel, or sleep, or fight. we realize in the quiet the silences we feel most deeply and the knowing breaks your heart a bit, doesn’t it? the ones you should have let go. the ones you should have held close. the world holds its breath. © 2020 Megan Lynn TocciReviews
