22 October 2019A Poem by Megan Lynn TocciComfortable in this cold house and the in-between.
midnight in october and the heat kicks on again, awakening that imperturbable furnace monster, O source of autumnal insomnia. socks foregone and stairs ascended i click the thermostat off, leaving the boys (asleep above me) to the unconscious embrace of second-story elements. two kitchen chairs out of place, turned in to face each other: there was laughter here, you know it, and maybe also some sadness as those two are unlikely comrades lately and i leave them be turned in like that, comfortable in this cold house and the in-between. © 2019 Megan Lynn Tocci |
