22 September 2019A Poem by Megan Lynn TocciI laugh louder now than I used to and it doesn't hurt.September again with its earlier sunsets and that softly raining dusk, our annual reminder: the seasonal close of baseball popcorn and carnivals, and ferris wheels at night with lights twinkling, and music out of 1970s tin speakers that turn each moment slowly into memory. it's late (I know) but I stand on cracked pavement under gas station lights, those neon reds and blues: 23 years old and gangly as ever but stronger now too I think and ambitious as hell. me, this Converse & collarbone kid but goddamn it fits and I laugh louder now than I used to and it doesn't hurt.
