A Poem by Megan Lynn Tocci
"

Not ready, just older.

"

twenty-two

and 1/3

years old and

i’m not ready.

not ready,

just older,

and

usually

just older

is the only thing

propelling

us forward and it

doesn’t mean for a

second

that

i’m less scared.

just less young.

A very honest write and I think something that a lot of people can relate to.

Getting older sucks despite what anybody says. Nobody says to themselves at 45 I'm very much looking forward to 50 more than looking back at your age now. not in every case but I think more people as they get older always look back. I think we're grateful to be alive no doubt we just want the clock of life at a slower pace

This one is sparely worded, but that doesn't mean it isn't saying anything. You can feel the speaker's sense of anxiety and perplexity. The source of these feelings is not named, but one suspects that at the age of "twenty two and 1/3," the speaker is already aware of time's remorseless flight. At "seventy two and 2/3," I more than empathize. Well done.
