Dear Self, I Hate You More Than The Smell Of Tobacco On My Mothers Breath

Dear Self, I Hate You More Than The Smell Of Tobacco On My Mothers Breath

A Poem by Cecilia

I realize today that I hate you more today than I did yesterday.

Dear Self,
I learned today the extent of how much you can't do anything right and how incompetent you are.

Dear Self,
I feel you should know I hope you die.

Dear Self,
It's taking all the restraint in the world not to drown you in the bath tub.

Dear Self,
Just the fact that I know you're happy even for a second makes me sick.
I also know that the happiness you're feeling is my fault. I'll fix that.

Dear Self,
Get a grip.

Dear Self,
No one cares.

Dear Self,
Are you seriously disappointed? What did you expect? Have you ever MET me?

Dear Self,
Please... just leave me alone,
I can't take this anymore.

Dear Self,
You've turned into something I hate.
I've turned into you and you've turned into me.
It's uncalled for and disgusting.

Dear Self,
What do you want from me?

Dear Self,
I think I hate you... as much as I hate me.
And that's a lot.

... ... ... i really dont know what to say

It's rather rad actually. The tone has such desperation and self-loathing and I only hope that it's just a momentary feeling and not an enduring one. The arguments here are so caustic and absolute that it made me want to cry almost. I do wish you well and hope that it is just a momentary thing and not a deep seated feeling.

OMG! So sad but so clear and well written

Greetings, Cecilia,

I like the fact that despite the poem's despairing overall tone, I could not suppress a smile upon reading "It's taking all the restraint in the world not to drown you in the bath tub." Wonder what that says about me. My only defense is that I do enjoy black, wry humor. This piece is joining my library right now.
