Lost and Alone

Lost and Alone

A Poem by grayhaven

Lost and Alone

My cries remain unanswered

As my soul lies wounded

Upon this battlefield of life

Left to lie here amidst

The carnage and the dead

Can no one hear my cries?

Does their spirit not say

Stop . . . . . Listen . . . . .

Do you hear a cry for help?

Can they not see the pain in my eyes?

Alas, no one seems to notice

My heart cries out in anguish

Wanting someone to understand

Someone to say that they care

I feel like a wandering spirit

Invisible even to those I love

Trapped between Heaven and hell

Not quite dead but no longer

Part of the world of the living

I continue to cry out for help

Praying to finally be heard

Understood . . .

And accepted . . .

Once more

Strong imagery. But I don't know if this is your soul screaming out for recognition, a person actually dying, or is this a conversation with a supreme being ala Christ and his declaration to his Father, Why have you abandoned me? So, your poem is perfect! It makes the reader think, question and examine their own feelings. A good job. Well done.
