I Thought I Knew Where We Were

I Thought I Knew Where We Were

A Poem by gravitylava
"

Love sucks.

"

Goddamn I thought I knew you

Goddamn I thought I knew who you were

I'll give up my humor if you'll take me seriously

I'll live in a tree before I let her get to me

Everyone's going to die but no one's ever going to live here

I'll write you pages of empty words if you'll teach me how to cry

These are all of the people

and all of their bad jokes

who remind you of the places

you never wanted to go, but you went anyway

and saw all of the things they had to offer

I don't want to die but I don't want to live here

You know damn well nothing's ever going to change

So we close all of the windows

and turn up the air conditioning

and turn up the music

and turn up our bed sheets

and watch the world pass by at our feet

The yellow sky looks so beautiful tonight, don't you think?

Goddamn I thought I knew who I was

Goddamn I thought I knew where I was

I can see the ceiling spinning around

Everyone's lying on the floor

You changed and forgot to take me with you

You changed but you left your wallet in the dressing room

You changed and it makes you feel sick

because it's possible to die and you have no where else to go

"I'll write you pages of empty words if you'll teach me how to cry"

That actually stopped me and made me have to start the entire poem over. That line is like a kick in the teeth. Jealous making also, wish I'd though of it. This entire poem is just amazing. There are so many lines that just make your head spin, and that's talent. Very nice piece here.

Love does suck and you are indeed a clever little f**k.

Good flow, great read. An interesting little piece, but a job well done.
