Play Nice

Play Nice

A Poem by Rachel DeHart

I don’t think it has even been like this.
Or ever will be.

Chest tight, heart racing,

pummbling my lungs, that short of

           breath

feeling where, anything could happen.

Butterflies has taken up permeate

                                residence

in my stomach, there must be flowers

                                    down there or

 something.

that feeling of falling fast

in your dreams, the kind where you never hit the

                 ground.

Palms tight, and knees weak. Any where

would suit me just fine. As long as the company

                      doesn’t change.

the way the sunset, has never looked so

perfect, the whole world must be

     celebrating.

Cause everyone knows, how couldn’t they?

it pours out from every pore, this feeling

of safety. Of envy. Every girl, every where, should

watch out. my wrath isn’t easily contained with

my heart in the setting it is.

I want to proclaim from the highest point

that yes. Yes, this is what you’ve spent you’re

whole life searching for, and I have it.

I have it, and I am not letting go.

you can go a head and try to

                                fight me for it.

because this is the one spot, where

I promise I wont play nice

           anymore.
