Momento

Momento

A Poem by Rachel DeHart

Here is my resignation

a small little acknowledgment

that I cant keep doing this

liking you is like

throwing myself against

a wall, a solid reminder that

                                no

I am not going to amount to much.

I’ll gather up my

day dreams in boxes

and throw them to the

wolves. Lee them rot

in the bellies of the damned.

[the only company i can keep]

                because it seems that

                i attract hate.

a magnetism in my blood stream

a constant memento of  my bad luck

i’ve got to keep a look out

make sure i never get to attached.

i am what mothers warn their children about.

Very sad...though I understand where it's coming from. My favorite part is "I'll gather up my day dreams in boxes and throw them to the wolves" I really like the imagery I get out of that.

Good work.
