rekindle

rekindle

A Poem by Rachel DeHart

My chest aches

because I know that I am

           terrible

the night hums to me,

                                         my heart beat loud

      and fast in my ears

breathing is irrelevant

                                i wish i could stop

                                                i am not strong enough

                      to keep doing this

                so i fall back

                                on an old friend

        rekindle habits

that should be left for dead

i suppose its sweater season

                           again.

i enjoyed this. i feel the same lately...

i really like the bit about "sweater season." except i am thinking it pertains to cutting because i had a friend who struggled with it...i certainly hope not :(

I like this one. " so i fall back on an old friend. rekindle habits
that should be left for dead. i suppose its sweater season again." I love that part...and I don't know if it means what I feel it does...but I know I get something out of it.

Very good one.
