Somehow

Somehow

A Poem by Rachel DeHart

“ ’Love you.’

‘Love you too’ “

Somehow, these words from you, they mean

more than they have before.

They don’t mean sex or lust

                                or anything.

Nothing, except that you,

           do in fact

                           mean the world to me.

                Some how, you’ve broken my

                                habit of needing to be

           in some sort of relationship.

And believe me,

this hiatus, would be nothing

           repeat

           nothing

without you to talk to on the phone

      every night.

without the reminder, that I do mean something to

      someone.

                                that I mean something

      to you.

You are the constant reminder in the back of my mind.

the forever pulling that keeps me

from ripping out all my seams.

I do mean it.

                I didn’t realize what I was missing

until you stumbled into my life

           and reminded me.

Holy crap! I love this one! This is really good. I can identify with the entire thing, and I could use it to describe my own situations.

Simply, wonderful.
