Heroine

Heroine

A Poem by Rachel DeHart
"

Just something, for someone, who I hope somehow finds his way here.

"

I write to you in prose,

quick jutting phrases

oozing from my lips

saying everything out loud

[in my head]

dreaming that soon

you’ll maybe understand.

“I know you don't believe me.
But whatever.
I feel like I have to tell you anyway.

You really were fantastic last night,
even if the drama from other folks made me
want to rip my hair out.

And again I saw that other side.
Though I can tell he doesn't show as much
when you play with them
As when you sing.

Anyway.
I hope me telling you this,
doesn't annoying you as much as I think.
Hopefully..
You smile. Or something.”

How do I explain it?

That there is a beat

in my pulse, that stammers

along.

                just for you.

You’re my Heroine.

Some odd form of addition,

that I keep throwing myself

against.

I really just can’t help it.

Because. I'm,

wondering if you realize.

I could [would] love

you more than anyone.

Write you sonnets

and pump out adoration

by the gallon full.

If you’d give me a chance, I’d

amaze you.

kiss against our metal

lips. Warming up the cold

front we both push out.                               Hold out.

If we held eachother,

still both at arms reach.

Wouldn’t we still be

holding onto something?

Instead of this nothing

that we both cling?

this is amazing.
i especially enjoyed the italicized middle section.

it immediately made me think of a Jawbreaker lyric...
"if you could save yourself/you could save us all/go on living/prove us wrong"
i dunno why, but it happened, lol.

but yeah, great stuff, kkeep it up!

As always, you never cease to amaze. Great flow, beautiful heart felt and raw emotion, a masterpiece of poetry that is a window into the human condition. I am truly impressed.
