Turned To Stone

Turned To Stone

A Poem by Grandma Auntie

In an instant you turned to stone

Not stopping to think of the damage

You had done to an already fragile soul.

I gave you everything I could offer to only

Be told my feelings didn’t matter

And the caring I showed was wrong somehow.

You have defeated me, shattered my belief

That there are good people and good souls;

Spiraling my emotions in one fell swoop.

I was thrilled to have found you, to open

My heart and my life again after years

Of emotional strife and physical pain.

There is nothing I can do or say in any form

That will truly express my sadness

Over this entire failed friendship.

Moving forward is always a challenge

And I wish you the best in your

Future, no matter where it takes you.

I have grown to know that no matter

Where I land I will be stable; this experience

Has also left me turned to stone.

This is very good. I could feel the emotions as I read it. I think people who go through a break up feel this way. Great write!
