YOU HAVE MAIL; (A LOVE SONG )

A Poem by gram linski
"

How to communicate, in the modern world,

"
waiting
-
  W  a    i      t        i          n                  g,
-
time stamp (11 minutes ago )
-
     fluidity gone
mud and silt restricting
              sweet river flow song
-
-
Staring
-
S   t    a      r       i         n              g
-
static feedback     ( blinking eye )
-
   frozen screen
 sobering conversation breaking
         rocks of emotion upon the
   sterile reminder of    ....
-
     time stamp ( 8 minutes ago )
-
-
Typing
-
T  y    p      i        n         g
-
               Staring
-
                                     waiting
-
     the urge for communication
drowned in strangled yawns
          and     ....
-
          W  A    I      T        I          N                   G
-
     " Are you gone ? "
-
   the sliver- tooth
       of curtained dawn,
-
-blinds my blood shot
                                   eyes
-
abruptly awake
    eating crunchy nut depression
and cold coffee blues for breakfast
-
       timestamp ( 8 hours ago )
-
     " Seriously, are you f*****g gone ? "
-
             MESSAGE NOT SENT
-
you are not connected
-
        running diagnostics
-
DO NOT SWITCH OFF

Yeah, it's a nice try...but the damn technical glitches can drive us crazy and away.
conversations cut off in mid=stream that make us think the other person is mad or hurt at something we said.
ugh...nothing like face to face romance
this poem is a perfect sample of what it is like.

Back a while, I used to get perturbed when people did not answer me for fifteen minutes or an hour or a day. But now I've joined the ranks & I never answer anyone either, until I get good & ready to. Why interrupt my real life until there's a natural pause? It's definitely not a communication style for the needy *wink! wink!* Your poetry, as usual, kills as a word painting on the addictive aspects of sniffing too much ethernet (((HUGS)))

without reading one word ..I love this free form .. the look of it says a lot in itself says i! and your poem is spot on .. tho I do not text nor tweet nor twitter .. I do still talk by way of phone ;) so I have not had conversations of a romantic nature but I do relate ... when getting "on line help" ... its exactly like that ... it's like ... are you there? .... are you still there???? and WAITING >;[ ... reading this opens the door to laugh at me self a bit ... it really isn't worth the anger .. luv on ya gram! always good to hear from you ... right here at the Cafe' ;)

Have to agree with J. Face to face or even telephone, but computer conversations can be a pain in the backside. What with the glitches and then the concerns that you may have been misunderstood. It ain't easy :)
