the essenes

A Poem by gram linski

the essenes
-
the wandering desert philosophers
the mystical magical venerable visionaries of
flaming god heads and angel eyes
shimmering in desert heat
and mushroom clouds
a nirvana of neurons
expanding and exploding
in universal truth and love
the knowledge of compassion and
                                   empathy
coursing
             through sand crusted veins
the meaning of life, each different,
to a billion grains of dust
the wisdom, ancient and blue, of cacti
causing shadows to reveal their dance
the silence of lizard mind echoes
in a haze of gnosis
a shivering, oasis - like, just out of reach
the dirt yearning for moisture
like a rough edged heart for love
the gospel truth in death rattle snakes
reptilian fossil gods of old
blink the sweetest nectar from eyelids
the abundance of life in the empty heat
     a vision
                                comprehension
mind blown in a storm of wind
bedouin thoughts billowing free
baptised in the fire of the sun

Caged In An Animal's Mind Caged in an animal's mind; No wish to be more or else Than I am; a smile and a grief Of breath that thinks with its blood, Yet straining despite; unsure In my stir .. more..
