Thoughts On A Haiku

Thoughts On A Haiku

A Poem by gram linski
"

for my wife, my love,

"
Thoughts On A Haiku
-
     Percussion hawks
     beat that beat
     drum     drum     drum
the slap of feather on wind
-
     Lost peacock struts
     unfamiliar territory
     looking for the look
     the hint of dreams ?
     in the unsane rooster's
                                  mad eye
-
     Send me the bird song
     envelop it in envelopes
     of sweet sweet sound
     and post me, first class
air mail
     squashed between flat brown
                                      and bubble wrapped form
-
A tiny purple god upon my walk
     the chirp of a wren
-
     mmmmm
     and inhale     one     two     three
     what haiku solace
           what haiku joy
-
     The petalled Buddha smile
     invokes lilac mind
centering  on sweet scented stems, stamen
                                                       and cloud

The petaled Buddha smile
blooms across afternoon after
afternoon--lifting
until the wren wing grows

strong enough to fly away.

I don't want to say a lot and spoil the lovely effect of your poem. Will just leave my inspired haiku-ish thing and say I love the tenderness and peace of your poem, Gram. You have so many different tools in your poetry toolbox. I always learn something from your poems.

Your final thoughts here gram are exquisitely beautiful. I note this poem was a dedication to your wife and that last part especially is a gift. There were feathers here and birds of various kinds. Birds can get ruffled feathers from time to time, but feathers always give me a sense of lightness and peace. My mind wandered with the smoke. Forgive my ramblings but that is where you took me. Hope you are doing ok.
