Anniversaries

Anniversaries

A Poem by gram linski
"

three or four times a year

"
 I saw
the star again
I waved
blew a kiss
and said hello
to Mother
shining bright
above my head
misty Sunday morning
just walking

Truly lovely and such a touching read. Visual and such an appropriate way of remembering your Mum on anniversaries. I bet when you see her star, she has polished it to its best to make sure it's extra sparkly and special for you. Nice work gram.

I beautiful and poignant piece of brevity. Our past loved one, I believe, do haunt the heavens above and perhaps every inch of creation.

they do, indeed Pryde, thanks for the lovely review,
I look up every now and again, see a star, and think of my father. I never do that with my mother. My thoughts of her are as empty and hollow as an empty grave. My dad was only 23 when he ended his life, having discovered my mother having an affair with his best friend. I was only four. I have no memories of him whatsoever. The memories of my mother are ones of abuse, neglect, and outright hatred. I must have been a constant reminder of her sins, and she hated me for it. I always felt like my dad was in heaven watching over me. It's funny the different lives we lead, the different foundations we are built upon. Some have loving parents, others don't. We are kneaded like bread - some to rise, some to fall; but it's always important to keep your head high. Otherwise, you will never see the stars. I'm glad that you had a loving mother that you can look back upon with fondness.

Aye, she did like a good bit of polished brass, thanks Chris,
A touching poem, Gram. Anniversaries are hard. Reminders. But, also, they keep us remembering. I have a significant remembrance anniversary on April Fools Day. It definitely underlines the absurdity of life for me, that one.

Maybe remembrance is like those stars. They shine for us because we keep looking. So much to see, but not always easy to look.

A lovely, thoughtful poem.

A deeply emotional moment of reflection and nostalgic regret as one recalls one's deceased parents in a quite moment of contemplation. Nicely described in a short form verse.

A hard thing to deal with gram. I am fortunate in that my parents were both good people.
i relate so much to this....i see both my parents in those stars...the brightest ones.
