I can relate to these lines. I am not a good sleeper either. This is what you call a living nightmare which torments the soul and mind to distraction. When you don't sleep, all those thoughts you have, become grossly exaggerated. When morning breaks, you are truly broken. It's good to see you posting again. I felt exhausted after reading your descriptive lines.

Sleep struggles are something I am familiar with. Nodding my head in agreement and empathy as I read your struggles. Eventually you go down but only to wake up only a short time later to go to work.

Love the play on words. Down as in feathers. I so relate to this one. We put the one tog duvet on last week I am am still kicking it into touch! Loved this one as it is seemingly straightforward for you! When I saw the line 'A bed of broken boulders' I immediately wanted it to be 'A bed of broken bones'. And the reference to 'The Princess and the Pea', very apt!

Caged In An Animal's Mind
Caged in an animal's mind;
No wish to be more or else
Than I am; a smile and a grief
Of breath that thinks with its blood,
Yet straining despite; unsure
In my stir .. more..
