PEACE & LOVEA Poem by Graeme RichardsonIt's kinda political... maybe... ?Some things’ wrong! There’s no peace an’ love in the world. No Garden of Eden for writers, artists’ poets and
thespians. We’ve arrived at the battle grounds Of obliterating creativity, insight, tolerance and
intelligence. Unexplainably we’ve plummeted an’ sat on the devil’s
lap, With a portable computer, An’ text messages without a slight of structured
sentence. We’ve stupidly programmed the grimy mess of the
underprivileged, Allowing them no chance in hell Of becoming pseudo-analytical artist of conceited
decadence. ‘Cause from what I can tell, An’ I’m not one to ring my bell, The only reasonable thing we’ll find, Is an uninspired political excuse to be called
mankind. Yet if luck is on our side, This tiny carbon-fueled ball Will eventually open the eyes of the militant blind, An’ let that big ol’ sun shine. Though before any of this can happen, Before we can even road map a pattern. I’ll just have another cup of coffee. Plonk myself into an easy chair. Rest my tired feet upon a ‘poof’, An’ just listen to myself unwind. © 2020 Graeme Richardson |
