Chapter ! The Scientific Literature Dealing With Problems Of Dreams

"
"They took it as axiomatic that dreams were connected with the world of superhuman beings in whom they believe and that they were revelations from gods and daemons."- pge 36

I believe slightly that dreams are but memories of past lives. Perhaps in another time and place we were the gods and demons. Our nightmares being our Id or the demonic nature inside us, and our dreams being the Spirit inside us or our spirituality.
"Dreams were divided into two classes. One class was supposed to be influenced by the present or past, but to have no future significance. It included insomnia, which gave a direct representation of a given idea or of its opposite--e.g. the nightmare or ephialtes. The other class was supposed to determine the future. It included direct prophecies received in a dream, previsions of some future event, and symbolic dreams, which needed interpretation. This theory persisted for many centuries" as quoted by Gruppe.
The Id according to my thoughts being the dreams which we do not remember, nor comprehend, and the Spirit being our prophetic dreams that tell of the future or give warning of the future. It is to my belief, at this moment in time, that the Id could be all the knowledge of out past lives, the good and bad, so we can be better than or past selves. Perhaps the only reason we dream at all is because we in fact are spiritual or divine beings, so therefore we must have dreams to keep that divinity within us alive. To be able to walk through the only spiritual grounds we know and speak to ourselves and perhaps the other divine creatures.
