The Mind

The Mind

A Poem by Gracie
"

a poem about a love that went missing

"

I see your face in my mind,

Taking over,

Engulfing me with memories of yesterday,

Last year,

And the tomorrow we will never have.

I grab the bike,

Start to run,

Jump onto the seat and pedal like there is no tomorrow,

Because there isn’t.

I reach the park,

Run to the bench, our bench,

The tears fall one by one onto the sidewalk,

Leaving a mark of my pain on the dull grey street.

I say to myself:

Why did you leave me like this?

Do I honestly deserve to lose you?

All of a sudden,

I see a hand in front of me,

I recognize that hand,

That soft, strong hand.

I look up,

And there you are.
A wind came and went,

And as it did, so did your memory.
