Who Cares?

Who Cares?

A Poem by Gracie

Who Cares?

Who cares about your race?

Who cares about my religion?

Who cares about your job?

Who cares about my age?

We live to love and that's all I know,

So why do people pressures us to depart like the snow?

We don't think like them,

And thank god for that,

Because what else would we have,

If we cared about what they think?

If we cared about what they say?

We'd be just as bad as them in every single way.

I live for you,

And you live for me.

That's all I need,

And that's all I believe.

Who cares about my favorite color,

Your favorite song,

And my favorite shirt?

It all doesn't matter if the sun goes out,

And the moon forgets to shine,

The stars leave the sky,

As my hands are clasped with thine.

I liked it. It was a nice collection of rebellion for justice in a society who'll find every reason to keep everyone equally miserable. If we have the ability to love someone, doesn't it make sense to exercise it? Our capacity to love with our hearts is what separates us from the animals, who only court to make babies and then leave each other. So rebel on.
