Defiant Thoughts of a Shy, Little LambA Poem by Graciea poem about rebellion and what people do for love....I just started writing and all the words cam pouring out..Enjoy!
We did it in front of the mirror, As I sat in the chair I heard the scissors go “snip, snip, snip.” It was liberating, The feeling of defying my superior in a rebellious action. First the length and then the color, My head will go from a shining corn husk white to bloody, fiery red. And the length? My plaits of hair will deform, And become no more than a bob. I wanted to impress, And destroy. Wanted the one I loved to see that I was not merely a little lamb, Wanted the one I despised to have their whole campaign of tyranny destroyed. This would happen quite simply, With one pair of rusty scissors, And one large bottle of dye. When the inaugurational deed of my rebellion was done, I stood up and walked over to his house, I said, “Now, do you think of me as a shy, little lamb?” He grabbed me into a hug and whispered in my ear, “I take back everything I have ever said about you. I was wrong.” © 2008 GracieAuthor's Note
