A White PeaceA Poem by Gracie GOne of my favorite places in nature.Kids tear down the hill, Yelling to their friends. The skis slash, the snow flies In all directions. The noise dulls Behind the curtain of trees. The narrow path leads Deeper into the woods. The crisp snow sparkles, An endless white blanket Untouched before now, Returning soon after. Slowly gliding to a stop Enjoying the silence, The peace and quiet, The stillness. Noisy children are far away While in this tranquility. The silence is perfect, Unbroken. Flakes slowly drift down, Coating heads and lashes. The feeling of joy is as endless As the crisp white coat. Laying there in the silence. Surrounded by the fleecy piles. Alone but not deserted. Finding serenity in it all. But the world beckons. There is a need to return. The peace is not forever, Yet the memory remains. © 2014 Gracie GAuthor's Note
