CarolineA Poem by Gracie GWritten for a friend going through a rough time. The
easy route beckons And
calls us in our hardest hours With
its false promises and lies. Some
give in, the cowards. They
give up without a fight.
Not
everyone knows the feeling. Sometimes
it never comes. But
to others It’s
the hardest thing they’ve done.
It’s
like a tunnel with a fork. Two
paths to take, a choice to make. One
is easy, no bumps, all light, A
straight path with no wonders. The
other twists and turns And
sometimes frightens, Surprise,
opportunity around each corner.
You
stop at the fork and think About
your past. About
your present. About
your future.
Realize
it’s been good, The
laughs and memories, The
crazy games. The
friends and fun.
Realize
you’re in a bad place. Your
life is hard, Your
decisions are harder. It
seems grim and bleak, That
there’s nowhere to turn, No
one to help, No
one to understand.
Realize
you have so much to live for. Your
future is what you make it And
there are no limits. You
are the master of your own fate. This
is in your hands, not theirs.
There’s
no telling what’s in store, Only
time will make known. But
to discover the possibilities, The
time is needed.
Only
the strong and fearless Willingly
choose the hard way. But
in the words of a troubled man, Someday everything will be okay. © 2014 Gracie GAuthor's Note
