Tragedy

Tragedy

A Poem by Grace

Of course

You only knew my name

Never sensed me

Saw sightlessly

with wide open eyes

Go and sit

Over the river Temper

Goad the Fates

By dipping your feet

In the water

Phaeton is burning

His ash falls to the ground.

Yes, go be with your father

Receive all the consequences

And shine brightly for one moment

Take up all the memories

Gently place them in the urn

Set it high on a shelf

Collecting age and dust

Never to be known again

This piece was eloquent and simple. You used descriptive words to paint a picture in your readers head. That is something every poet (or writer rather) should be able to do. Excellent job.
