A Life Like Water

A Life Like Water

A Poem by Emily Shae

Death

Painful and dark

Terrifying, mortifying, horrifying

Before Christ gave His life

On the Cross at Calvary

I was to die

A sinner’s death

O what a wretch was I

Death was my impending doom

Escape was not an option

Because Christ died for me

Now I am free to live

He was my escape

My hope and breath of life

This new life He gave

Is electrifying, stimulating, intensifying

I fear death no longer

For life is an exciting new adventure

Living life for Christ

Being His salt and light into the world

With my new life I take it one sunrise at a time

Knowing that each breath is a blessing

One that I will not take for granted

Full of purpose and joy

Trials and tribulations

Whimsical passion

And methodical insight

The life Christ gave

That has overpowered the darkness of death

Is unpredictably beautiful

Flowing precipitately in my soul

A life like water
