Nightmare

Nightmare

A Poem by Grace Revell

It's a cold Thursday night, I'm lying at your side,
eyes closed, steady breathing.
I dream about losing you
and I wake up screaming your name.
Tangled in my covers and
surrounded by the nightmare that consumed me.
I'm in your arms, shaking violently
Crying loud sobs and listening to reassurance.
Your soothing words make a home in my heart
and suddenly I'm drifting off into another
sleepy state, my eyes shutting quietly.
I don't dream afterwards
but when I wake up, know that I was
glad to find that I was with you.
