Chapter 21:

Chapter 21:

A Chapter by Melissa Ashley

An hour later I got a text from an unknown number. It said “Meet me in five in the garden. Hurry.” Excited, I thought it was Gael telling me he changed his mind about leaving. I rushed out of my room and ran to the garden. Bursting through the glass doors I looked around for Gael. Seeing nobody I yelled out Gael’s name. Sensing a presence behind me I slowly turned and was face to face with Nash.

“Nash! You about gave me a heart attack. I was waiting for somebody.”

“Gael, yeah I heard you yelling his name. But no Gael isn’t coming the message was from me.”

“Oh.” My smile dimmed but then brightened again. “What did you need?”

“You!” He lunged forward. I fell to the ground and rolled away from him. Not stopping he pivoted on his foot and came at me again.  I side-stepped him and pulled out one of my daggers from my thigh. Seeing I had a weapon he spoke.

“Oh so the princess has protection. How sweet.” He smirked.

“Why Nash? What have I ever done to you?”

“It’s not you. It’s your title.” He lunged at me again, but before I could move away it nicked my shoulder. Gasping I switched hands.

“I trusted you Nash. You were my friend.”

“Well, you really shouldn’t be so trusting,” he sneered in my face. “The world is a dangerous place.”
