Chapter 8A Chapter by Melissa AshleyAfter, my shower I got dressed and was walking
out of the wash room as the guy from the cafeteria was walking in. “Oh! You’re the girl Sarah was talking about
right?” “Umm who’s Sarah?” “The girl you pulled away from me so rudely at
lunch yesterday.” He said smirking. “Yeah, sorry about that but I’m new here and
didn’t know where or what I was doing.” “So fainting includes her helping you because
you looked pretty pale when you walked over in the first place so what exactly
happened?” “She just looked familiar.” “Well you looked like you saw a ghost. Not to
be rude or anything but why are you here?” “I don’t really know.” I turned away and
breathed before I walked slowly away from him. “Hey if it means anything I see how Joel thinks
you’re the Chosen One and by the way names Nate.” I smiled too myself but turned around long
enough to yell my name back to him. “Is it ok if I call you Katie Bug? Because
Sarah told me you flipped out when she called you Katie-Lou.” I stopped and turned around to face him. “If you really want to know more about me meet
me tonight after dinner because I presume we have a break before we have to
actually work.” I didn’t give him time to answer me and just
walked back to my room. I found a keycard in my back pocket and swiped it
through the door. Opening I was met by a dozen people yelling welcome back. I
looked around astonished and asked what the hell was going on. Nobody answered
me because they were too busy shoving their faces with food and chattering to
their neighbor. Not getting any answers I stormed out of the
room and found myself face to face with Deloris. Surprised, I jumped and my
father’s ring went flying. Deloris bent down to pick it up apologizing the
whole time but stopped mid-sentence. “Where did you get this?” “My father gave it to me before I was sent to
prison.” I said attempting to get it. “This is my husband’s.” She stated numbly.
Forgetting I was there she lowered herself to the floor and wept. © 2016 Melissa Ashley |
