Chapter 1:A Chapter by Melissa Ashley
My parent’s told me I was going
somewhere safe away from all the bad things. What I didn’t know was that I was
the bad thing. What they didn’t know was
that when I found that out I would hunt them down and kill them. But until I
can decide a plan I have to wait here. Counting the days and months as they go
by. At least I’m not alone, my cellmate Joel is very talkative and
keeps me from going completely insane. He and I work hard on our escape plan
every fifteen minutes as the guards switch posts. One of the guards favors me so when I’m
talking to him Joel slowing pick pockets him for any “extra” knives and guns
that might become handy on our way out. So far he hasn’t noticed what we’ve
been doing and hopefully we can keep it that way. Anyways, Joel dug a hole
under his bed to put all the stuff in.
Then one day that all changed. The guards came and was heading
towards Joel. I thought quickly three to one. I noiselessly tip toed towards
the nearest guard. I took a deep breath, yanked out his gun and shot him in the
back of the head. The other guards started to turn around so I shot the other
one in the head. I aimed the gun at the other and pulled the trigger, nothing
happened I pushed it again and again but nothing happened he grinned and
started to come toward me. “You have no idea how many
times I wanted to come in here and kill you.” He said. I didn’t say anything and then
in my peripheral vision I saw Joel reach under his bed and pull out a knife. “You have no idea how many
times I wanted to slit your f*****g throat, and watch you slowly bleed out.” I
said smiling. “Oh, I love girls with a feisty
attitude! Why don’t you just come and live with me. We’d be a hell of a happy
family.” “I’d kill myself before I would
live with you!” I yelled. And before he could take another step Joel slit his
throat open. I collapsed on the ground exhausted. Joel came up and sat down
beside me wrapping his arms around me telling me everything was going to be ok.
He picked me up and laid me down into my cot. “No, I’m fine we need to keep
moving I’m sure other guards will be heading this way any minute now.”
“You’re right it’s time.” He
made his way back to his cot and gathered the weapons. We took the keys out of
the guard’s pocket and unlocked the gate. He tossed me the keys and I pocketed
them. © 2016 Melissa Ashley |
