The ShoreA Poem by gr8naynayWhen life hands you another chance do something different.Strangly removed from the ocean,
sitting here on the shore,
I, with face in hands, oh my ruined plans!
Wonder how I've arrived here once more.
The sun's beating down, it's so hot on me--
No trees offer comforting shade.
Stranded here on this shore I must analize
The folds of this bed I have made.
I thought I was careful;
I thought I could swim;
I thought I was stronger;
I thought it was him.
But I slipped from my good ship, Unsteady,
made my way to the soft ocean floor.
I was so ready for restful sleep,
but was brought right back here to the shore.
I feel so weak, I'm an infant.
I'm so thin; where's my color gone?
Looking at myself I realize
Something must've gone terribly wrong.
Still sitting here as the night falls.
It's cold and the tide's coming in.
Faced with two options I see now
I could get up and walk or swim.
I've opted to leave the ocean,
Something just said, "let it be."
I once had a dream I was drowning
and its spirit almost swollowed me.
I've almost forgotten my sunken good ship,
And the man who's arms pitched me over,
But I'll always remember the ocean's floor
and my first new steps on the shore.
