Very interesting poem you have here, the physical manifestation of pain often eases the emotional pain people feel which is why in a bit of a contradiction, I both understand and cannot understand why people cut themselves. We all have different mannerisms by which we cope with things and while some are more destructive than others at the end of the day we all just want the same thing which is to feel happy which is why I thought it was good that your poem ended the way it did. Sadly, a lot of these coping mechanisms become addictions and spiraling into far more dangerous territories, cutting itself can cause vascular damage and leaves permanent and often highly visible scars on skin but it pales in comparison to what alcohol and drugs can do to your body so perhaps it's not so bad after all. I'm assuming this one comes from the heart, having either done it yourself or having known someone who's done it, I applaud you for sharing this because this is not something a lot of people feel comfortable sharing. As someone who has dated someone with this type of issue I admire the way you put this together, the flow is great and by the end it really feels as though you're saying, I can beat this, I don't need this to cope with the problems in my life and that really is a very powerful message. Excellent job and welcome to WC.
